8 Districts Begin Their Quest for Championship Honours as High-Intensity Football Action Unfolds at St. Joseph’s.
Following the successful conclusion of the Under-15 Boys Inter-District Provincial Level Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026, the Under-17 Boys Inter-District Provincial Level Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026 commenced today at St. Joseph’s School, Baramulla, under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, Jammu & Kashmir, with DYSS Baramulla serving as the host district.
The championship was formally inaugurated by the District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO), Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, in the presence of Mubeen Ahmad Khan (PEM), Shabir Ahmad Thoker (PEM), and Showkat Ahmad Waza (PEM) Convener of the Tournament, along with officials, technical staff, coaches, and participating teams.
A total of eight districts out of ten are participating in the prestigious Under-17 provincial football championship, providing a competitive platform for young footballers to showcase their talent and sportsmanship.The opening day’s first session witnessed six thrilling encounters with the following results:
1. Bandipora defeated Anantnag by 4-0.2. Baramulla registered a commanding 8-0 victory over Shopian.3. Srinagar outclassed Kulgam by 9-0.4. Ganderbal and Budgam played out a hard-fought draw.5. Srinagar continued their impressive run by defeating Anantnag 4-2.6. Baramulla and Budgam shared points after their match ended in a draw.
The tournament is expected to witness intense competition in the coming days as participating districts strive to secure the coveted provincial title and earn qualification for the next stage of the prestigious Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026.
