For the revival and development of cricket in Anantnag, Deputy commissioner Anantnag Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat formally inaugurated today Unity Cup at Sports stadium Anantnag in presence of Cricketers and Ex-Cricketers of Anantnag district. The tournament aims to promote 100 days Nasha Mukt Bharat abhiyan initiative through sports activities. On the inaugural ceremony while addressing the players and invited guests DC Anantnag said that, “It is a matter of pride for the people of Anantnag that the stadium has been reopened for all types of sports activities after a gap of four years.
He lauded the efforts of Ex-Ranji Trophy Cricketer Ameek Khan and his companions for the revival of Cricket in Anantnag. He said that sports is one of the means by which can eradicate drug menace from the society. He further assured all kind from District Administration for the smooth conduct of the tournament”.
In the tournament a total of 64 teams of district Anantnag are participating. The tournament will be played on knockout basis and the fee of the tournament is 3500 only. The tournament is expected to bring excitement, enthusiasm and a competitive spirit among the young cricketers of the district. The tournament is being organized by Ex-Ranji Trophy Cricketer Ameek Khan under the aegis of District Cricket forum and District Administration Anantnag.
