The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Jammu and Kashmir, today inaugurated the UT Level Inter District U-19 Cricket Tournament at the BHSS Ground, Bijbehara. The event was formally declared open by SDPO Bijbehara Sheikh Mudasir, who served as the chief guest, alongside DYSSO Anantnag Raja Yaqoob, all ZPEO’s and other officials from the YSS Department. The tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, is being hosted by DYSSO Anantnag across multiple venues, including BMHSS Bijbehara, Jablipora Grounds (A, B, and C), and the Railway Ground Hassanpora. Teams from both Jammu and Kashmir Divisions are participating in the championship. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Sheikh Mudasir commended the enthusiastic participation of young cricketers, emphasizing that sports play a crucial role in channeling youth energy positively and combating the drug menace. He lauded the YSS Department’s efforts in creating platforms for school students to showcase their cricketing talent and urged for the continuation of such initiatives to further promote sports culture across the Union Territory. The tournament follows a league-cum-knockout format, with around 350 young cricketers from both divisions competing. Outstanding performers will be selected to represent J&K in the upcoming School National Games. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on November 13, 2025.
