The 15th UT Level Tennis Ball Cricket Championship commenced today on March 29, 2026, at the BHSS Ground Bijbehara in Anantnag district.
The championship was formally inaugurated by MLA Bijbehara Dr. Syed Bashir Ahmad Veeri, in the presence of DYSP Mudasir Ahmad and SHO Bijbehara Majid Khan. While addressing the gathering, Dr. Veeri highlighted the importance of tennis ball cricket as a grassroots platform for budding cricketers. He emphasized that such tournaments provide young players with an opportunity to showcase their talent and progress towards higher levels of the sport.
The championship is being organized by the J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association under the initiative “My Youth My Pride.”
The tournament will be played over a period of three days and will conclude after the final matches. The competition is being held across multiple categories, including Juniors, Sub-Juniors, and Seniors. The main objective of this championship is to promote and boost sports activities across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, while encouraging youth participation and talent development in cricket. The championship features participation from 15 districts across Jammu & Kashmir, with competitions being held in Senior and Junior categories for both boys and girls.
On the opening day, a total of 19 matches were played across various categories, reflecting the enthusiasm and competitive spirit among the participants.
The event is being organized by the J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association in collaboration with the District Anantnag Tennis Ball Cricket Association, and is sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
