J&K Under 17 Handball team qualifies for pre-quarterfinals, to be played in Telangana on Monday

Srinagar, Jan 14: After winning their pool matches, the Handball game team of J&K has qualified under 17 for pre-quarter match that will be played in Siddipet, Telangana on Monday.
Despite no support extended by the Jammu & Kashmir Youth Services and Sports Department, J&K handball team left for Telangana on 10th January 2019 and bear all the expenses on their own.
Earlier, the team had made several calls and visits to the J&K Youth Services and Sports department and to the Governor’s office as well for their support but they only had to return with the empty hands
J&K handball team defeated the U.P’s handball team by scoring 20 in the pre-quarter match today and made it to the Quarter which will be held on 15th January.
Speaking to The JkSportstime the coach of J&K Handball team said: “We never wanted to miss the championship and since the reporting date was near so the team had decided to bear its all expenses and reach the venue on time,” he said.
“The team had really worked hard to get selected and to participate in the respective championship. It was really a huge opportunity for us,” he added.
The team will be leaving from Telangana on 17th January, 2019. The 64th National School Games handball championship held and organized by School Education Department, Telangana had commenced on January 12, 2019 which will end on January 16, 2019.
