Police Organises Marathon Events ‘Run for Unity’ In The Memory Of Police Martyrs

In loving memory of police martyrs and to salute those who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland, police organized the marathon “Run for Unity” in Ganderbal, Anantnag, Awantipora, and Handwara under ‘Police Flag Day Week-2024’.    

In Ganderbal, the Marathon was flagged off by DySP DAR DPL Ganderbal Shri Nazir Ahmad accompanied by other senior Police officers of the district. The marathon started from Repora and culminated at Police Station Lar, in which school students, youth of the district participated with huge enthusiasm, zeal & zest. Besides Officers & Officials of the District Police also participated in the event. At the conclusion of the event, 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders were awarded with cash prizes & appreciation certificates.

In Anantnag, the “Run for Unity” marathon started from Sarnal Chowk and culminated at Y-Junction. Boys and girls from various schools and colleges participated enthusiastically in the event showcasing the community’s spirit and dedication to honour those who have laid down their lives in the service of the nation. Mementos were distributed to the top three finishers in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, recognizing their outstanding performances and inspiring others to engage in healthy activities.

In Awantipora, the marathon started from bus stand Tral and culminated at Shaldraman Crossing Tral, in which more than 100 participants of different age groups from different areas of Sub Division Tral participated. During the closing ceremony, 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders were awarded cash prizes and appreciation certificates. Moreover, the first ten position holders in the run were given certificates of appreciation.  On the occasion, SDPO Tral, DySP DAR Awantipora, SHO Police Station Tral, and other police officers were present.

In Handwara, the marathon was flagged off by DySP DAR DPL Handwara Shri Majid Magray-JKPS accompanied by other senior Police officers of the district. Youth of the district participated with huge enthusiasm, zeal & zest, besides officers & officials of district Police also participated in the event.

It is pertinent to mention here that Police is organising different sports events like volleyball, singing competition, marathon & other co-curricular activities across the valley for a week-long period. Police Flag Day week is dedicated to all the Police Martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in the service of nation.
