Dadoo Rangers Kashmir secured their spot in the Kashmir Cup 2024 finals after a commanding performance against Valley Fresh CC in the tournament’s qualifier on Monday morning.
After winning the toss, Valley Fresh CC’s skipper elected to bowl first, inviting Dadoo Rangers to set a target. The decision backfired as openers Sarsheel Abbas and Basit Akbar put on a staggering 235-run partnership. Sarsheel, known for his consistent form this year, smashed 134 off 66 deliveries, while Basit, a rising star from South Kashmir, added 102 off 53 balls. Despite a golden duck from skipper Asif Manzoor, Dadoo Rangers posted an imposing total of 241 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, Valley Fresh CC struggled to maintain momentum, with their chase falling 39 runs short. Irfan Lara was their top scorer with 44 runs, followed by Nazir Tiger’s 40. Contributions from Ishfaq Shah (36) and Meeran Yousuf (34) were not enough to overcome the target.
Gowhar Leggy was the pick of the bowlers for Dadoo Rangers, claiming an impressive four-wicket haul, while Dar Junaid and Umer Lefty took two wickets each.
Sarsheel Abbas was named Player of the Match for his brilliant century, while Basit Akbar took home both the Game Changer Award and the Super Sixes Award.
The tournament is organized and sponsored by Dalgate Sports Club.
