DYSSO Anantnag kick started U-19 District Level Cricket Tournament

Department of Youth Service and Sports Anantnag kick started the District Level Inter School Cricket Tournament for U-19 age group Cricketers today on 2/8/2024 here at BHSS ground Bijbehara and Sports Ground Nodora Dooru Anantnag.The highly anticipated District Level Cricket Tournament was officially inaugurated at the Sports Stadium Dooru in a grand ceremony led by the esteemed Principals Tariq Ahmad from BHSS Doru and Mohammad Mahmood from GHSS Qazigund, marking the commencement of an exciting series of cricket matches that aim to showcase the sporting talent within the district.The event saw an enthusiastic participation from the various Institutions of the District with students, teachers, and sports enthusiasts gathering to witness the inaugural match. The presence of the Zonal Physical Education Officer Doru, the District Activity Incharge, and the District Media Coordinator added to the significance of the occasion, highlighting the importance of sports in fostering community spirit and youth development.In his opening speech, Principal Tariq Ahmad emphasized the role of sports in holistic education and encouraged the young athletes to exhibit sportsmanship and dedication. “This tournament is not just a competition but a platform for students to display their talent, teamwork, and perseverance and to eradicate Drug menace,” he said.The inaugural match was a thrilling encounter, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. Was between HSS Hakura & HSS Arhama in which toss was won by HSS Hakura and after electing to bowl the opponents scored 144 runs with brilliant batting display from Maran Tariq scoring non out 45 runs from his brilliant techniques. Chasing down this target HSS HSS Arhama was restricted to 104 runs and they faced a defeat by a huge margin of 40 Runs despite brilliant performance from Rouf Farooq of 45 runs and he was also declared as Man of the Match and best bowler was Adnan Yousuf by clinching 02 precious wickets The teams showcased exceptional skills and sportsmanship, much to the delight of the spectators.It is also pertinent to mention here that another Venue was HSS Bhijbehra, which was Inaugurated by Principal HSS Bhijbehra The District Level Cricket Tournament will continue over the next few days, featuring teams from various schools across the district. The organizers have ensured that all necessary arrangements are in place to provide a safe and competitive environment for the players and the selectors of the district are also looking for talented players to represent Anantnag at UT Level cricket Tournament Scheduled from 18th August to be hosted at Anantnag as per Directorate Approval.
