The Director of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K, Subash Chander Chhibber, on Tuesday flagged off the first batch of student trekkers to Gulmarg from the Directorate of YSS Sports Complex Wazirbagh here. The group consists of 50 girls representing all 08 Sports Zones across Srinagar, with senior officials of YSS accompanying them on this exciting adventure.The flag-off ceremony, held with much enthusiasm, was attended by Joint Director YSS Kashmir Mohammad Rashid Kohli, Chief Accounts Officer Sunil Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Srinagar Ghulam Hassan Lone, SO Establishment Shivnandan Singh Mankotia and other senior officials of the Directorate of YSS. Director YSS took the opportunity to interact with the trekkers, emphasizing the significance of adventure sports like trekking and encouraging the girls to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding them as they embark on their journey.He further stressed on the importance of maintaining discipline throughout the residential camp.Director Sports impressed upon the students to avoid much mobile usage and to go through the history of these naturally rich and ecstatically beautiful places.He advised the student trekkers that while trekking they should keep their surroundings clean and litter free.He added that the Department of Youth Services & Sports will continue to organise such trekking camps for the students and youth of other districts as well.The camp, organized under the theme “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention,” aims to promote outdoor activities and instill a sense of responsibility and teamwork among the participants.This initiative underscores the commitment of the YSS department to provide engaging and enriching opportunities for J&K youth through sports and recreational activities.
